TITLE: An analog of the Sharkovskii Theorem on the annulus.
ABSTRACT:
We consider homeomorphisms of the annulus isotopic to the identity.  Then 
it is possible to associate a braid to every periodic point and obtain a 
partial ordering on these braids.  We show that certain complicated braids 
force simpler ones, demostrating an analog of the Sharkovskii ordering on the real 
line.
